The highly anticipated 12th Hong Kong Food Carnival (the Carnival) is now open. Organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), this nine-day culinary and shopping extravaganza takes place at Kwai Chung Sports Ground from 25 October to 2 November. Featuring authentic local flavours and popular international cuisines, the Carnival offers an unparalleled experience in dining, shopping, and entertainment, promising to ignite a citywide autumn celebration.

This morning’s grand opening ceremony was graced by esteemed guests including Dr Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Mr Winston Yeung, Chairman of Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades; Mr Kenlay Wong, Chairman of Nam Pak Hong Association; Dr Leslie Wong, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Food Council; Dr Wingco Lo, President of CMA; Mr Ivan Sze, Vice President of CMA cum Chairman of CMA Exhibition Services Limited; Dr Allen Shi, Permanent Honorary President of CMA; Dr Ma Kai Yum, Executive Vice President of CMA; Mr Dennis Ng Kwok On, Mr Jackson Leung, Mr Calvin Chan, Mr Robert Lok and Dr Ellis Wong, Vice Presidents of CMA; Ms Ida Ng, Chief Executive Officer of CMA, and other office-bearers of CMA.

In his opening address, Dr Wingco Lo, President of CMA, highlighted the association’s commitment to supporting the HKSAR Government’s “tourism is everywhere” and “mega event economy” initiatives. By combining Kwai Chung District’s rich culinary culture with the CMA’s expertise in exhibition management, the Carnival has evolved into a signature community event.

“Over the past 16 years, we have relentlessly pursued excellence and innovation to elevate the visitor experience at the Carnival.” stated Dr Lo. “Looking ahead, we will continue to introduce fresh, creative elements across our exhibitions to meet the changing expectations of both local residents and tourists, while injecting fresh momentum into Hong Kong’s economy.”

This year’s Carnival features 320 booths across six thematic zones, offering a diverse range of products, including food and beverages, grains and noodles, ginseng and dried seafood, kitchenware, and daily essentials. Two dedicated catering zones—the Yummy Food Zone and the Chillax Zone—bring together more than 100 local and international culinary delights, along with a curated selection of wines, spirits, and pairing snacks. Professional mixologists will craft limited-edition cocktails in the bar area, complemented by lively busking performances and live DJ sets, delivering a vibrant multi-sensory experience for all visitors.

Shopping discounts have always been a highlight of CMA exhibitions, and this year is no exception. Bargain hunters can explore hundreds of low-priced items across three major shopping promotions, with some discounted up to 50% and even 90% off. Among these, the brand-new “$10 Happy Deals” initiative offers dozens of selected items, including wine, healthcare products, and various foods and snacks, all available for just HK$10 each, on a first-come-first-served basis.

Mr Ivan Sze, Vice President of the CMA cum Chairman of CMA Exhibition Services Limited, stated that this year’s Carnival features enhanced promotions and deeper discounts to meet growing consumer demand for value-for-money. “Beyond attractive shopping discounts, we have rolled out multiple lucky draws and interactive prize games, with prizes worth over HK$600,000 in total. Additionally, 27 captivating performances, including healthy cooking shows, live performances of music, dance, Chinese opera, and Taekwondo, will create an immersive and vibrant carnival atmosphere for visitors of all ages,” said Chairman Sze.

As the spooky season approaches, the organiser has prepared a series of Halloween-themed activities, including a spooky parade, magic shows, and a Kid’s K-Pop dancing competition. Everyone is welcome to dress up in costumes and join the fun, immersing themselves in a festive celebration that is both playful and thrillingly eerie!

The Carnival warmly welcome visitors daily from 11am to 9pm. Admission fee is HK$6, with free admission from 7pm onwards. Children under 1 metre in height, senior citizens aged 65 or above, and persons with disabilities can enjoy free admission. Tourists can use their travel documents to obtain free V.I.P. tickets at the tourist centre.
